How much Mass Effect is too much Mass Effect?

I've been swamped this week! Just been working a lot so I'm exhausted, I also adopted a cat who's pretty whiny and hates not being pet at all times, so she's been keeping me up ALL NIGHT! So sorry I didn't post yesterday or the day before, but I'm good to go now and I have a three day weekend so tomorrow, Monday, and Tuesday I will for sure post something :)

I'll start off with the 30-day challenge, so without any further ado...

Here's day 3: a game that's underrated!

I have a hard time with this one too. There are so many good games out there that aren't necessarily popular, but are still fantastic! I would probably have to pick Katamari Damacy though. It's pretty wild, wacky, colorful, and absolutely ridiculous but satisfyingly so!

Welcome back! So story wise, the King of All Cosmos (the man featured in the video with too-tight tights) knocks all the stars and planets out of the sky, and YOU, his son (the Prince of All Cosmos), must fix his mistake!

By rolling things up on Earth, you create planets and stars to replace the old ones. I really love the literal translation of the title, because in English the literal meaning of "Katamari Damacy (Damashii if properly written) is "Round Soul Clump".

If you haven't played this game, I recommend checking it out for sure! It sounds dumb but it's actually fairly challenging in later levels and a lot of fun!

Aaand now day 4: my guilty pleasure game!

For this category, it's not that tough to pick. The game is: Monster Girl Quest!

I actually love this game so much that I named my snake after the main lamia; Alipheese Fateburn the 16th. (We call her Alice for short though, just like the game). I don't actually want to give much away, but what I can tell you is it's kind of funny how I stumbled upon this game.

Initially, it was curiosity and slight disgust. "How in the hell can people have a fetish for this, isn't it just a step above furries?" It turned into mild enjoyment. "Huh, the way this game works is actually really nice, a cool twist on rpgs with higher stakes, has fantastic dialogue and a hilariously dumb main character, and it's actually, dare I say it, kinda sexy in a weird way that makes me slightly uncomfortable". Once I hit the end of the second game though, and the FULL story was revealed, I fell in love with the characters and noticed as the trilogy went on all the character development. And ultimately, you won't believe me unless you play it yourself, but the game has a deep storyline and is all about how if we try and understand each other, no matter what our differences are, we can learn to get along and treat each other with respect.

And now, day 5: game character I feel I'm most like

I would have to say that this is a tough choice, just because even though I can relate to characters there aren't a lot that I feel I'm like.

But if I had to pick, I would say that I'm kind of like Fox McCloud (in Starfox Adventures, specifically) without the badass-ness.

He's sassy, sarcastic, and would rather blow shit up (because it's faster and more epic) than sneak in the smart way. He's not the brightest bulb in the box, but he always has a snappy comeback. Also he doesn't put up with people's shit, if someone irritates him it's obvious.

SO the rest of my post (since it's already long) will just be gifs that I find funny that are from Mass Effect. I discovered these first few the other night when I was looking for a good picture of Garrus. Just observe and enjoy~

So there's those things to enjoy. I laughed harder than I should at all of these!

And finally, this video is fantastic~ I'm still on a Mass Effect kick and recently beat the 3rd one, am getting into Andromeda. This DLC is probably my favorite of all of the DLC I've played so far, especially the dialogue inside the vault!

Today I have quite a bit to talk about~ One thing that I will talk about before jumping into the challenge is this:
A personality test!
This test was developed by Jung originally, and it's now used in schools and for career information~ It's one of the most popular personality tests out there, and it's kind of accurate, too! Obviously it's not perfect, nothing truly is. But if you pick the options that fit you best, how you feel, then you should get a pretty accurate answer~ Here are my results, if you're curious~

Now, for today's (and yesterday's) challenge.
Day 7: Set of Pokemon Moves!
My favorite set of Pokemon moves would probably be Psychic, Will-O-Wisp, Mega Drain, and Slam. There's not really a related picture, so here! Have a picture of a Pokemon who represents each move!

These are honestly some of my favorite Pokemon, too~ They might seem sissy or girly - da-yum, look at Snorlax's sexy, girlish figure - but these guys were always so op when I trained them on my old games~ Trading them to Pokemon Colosseum was epic!
Day 8: Special Ability

My special ability would be speed, silent speed.
Now don't get me wrong, Super Sonic is ONLY an example of my speed. I would run silently, after all, my character is a lawful evil thief/adventurer...~ Stealth is a must! But my ability that I would unlock is stealthy speed, as fast as Super Sonic and as hidden as Solid Snake~
...
I mean, come ON! Who DOESN'T want to be able to hide from enemies in the most conspicuous way possible~

This word is a lot like the word "emoticon" in English. Believe it or not, they are a LOT more popular in Japan than they are in America! This is namely because they e-mail instead of texting on phones, and they are charged money per character. Now, it makes a lot more sense to describe things using as few characters as possible, yes? So, they introduce cute emoticons in order to shorten their messages. Kaomoji are almost like a secret language that the youth of Japan use to communicate with~
This site has quite a few good ones, and it's the most accurately Japanese one I've found so far! Most don't have actual kaomoji, just morphed emoticons.

Now I kind of want to talk about parodies! I typically am not a fan, unless they are the Key of Awesome parodies... But today, I came across this guy, NateWantsToBattle, who does Pokemon parodies of popular songs! I've seen my fair share of crappy Pokemon parodies before, but this guy is different... I promise~ His voice is so perfect!

Also, an update on my Youngster Joey challenge in LeafGreen! My Rattata, affectionately known as "Koratta", the Japanese name, is now a level 15 having just beaten Brock! I have a couple of pictures that were directly before the victory and directly after~

I had never played LeafGreen before, so when I named my rival, I had no idea how well it would fit~ This had me laughing for hours, you have no idea~!

Here's right after I caught the bugger~

I decided to EV train it in Speed and Defense. As it's my first time EV training, I forgot to record the numbers... I think he's somewhere around 40 EVs in speed right now, and 6 in defense. I'd also like to work on HP EVs a bit.

WHOO BEAT THE FIRST GYM! It was pretty hard, and the first time I relied on non-attack moves besides Sleep Spore, Hypnosis, and Poison Powder. Used Tail Whip to bring down their defenses, and kicked some SERIOUS ROCK-HARD ASS!

Pokemon challenges, funny pictures, Skyrim, and TMNT!

Tonight's post will be all about the interesting new things that I've been up to, and just random, fun stuff! I've had a strange day emotionally, so I kinda want to make this post all about the things that I enjoy, plus a mini rant or two~
First off, however...

It's the February Challenge!
Day 5: Skill Set
I feel like I have to explain this one a bit first. This would be 4 or 5 skills that your character would have the opportunity to level up. For example, the stealth skills in Skyrim!
So my character would have:
1. "Thief" skill set
This would include sneaking, pickpocketing, and lockpicking.
2. "Smooth Talker" skill set
All about the bribery, charisma, intimidation, and charm~ No one would be able to resist me with this fully leveled!
3. "Healing Magic" skill set
Magic, specifically for healing me in the heat of battle. Don't you just hate it when a red dragon leaps down, and you have no cleric or healer? Must rely on potions. This is one of the most useful types of skills in an RPG in my opinion~
4. "Adventurer" skill set
This would include abilities such as how to pitch a tent, or how to set up an inconspicuous fire. The higher the level is, the less likely it is that enemies will find your camp. Also, cooking requires less ingredients with a higher success rate as the level increases~
5. "Melee Weapon" skill set
A necessity for any adventurer! Some kind of attack is necessary, and I've always preferred melee weapons to ranged. Plus, the higher the level, the more damage you can do with a simple stick! An exaggeration, I know, but it's still a useful set of skills to have~

These three words, in order, are pronounced "soo-kee", "dah-ee-soo-kee", and "ah-ee-shee-teh-roo".
For those of you who do know a bit of Japanese, you may recognize that these all mean "love". So why pit three words against each other when they all mean the same thing? Well, because they all have different connotations, or inferred/implied meanings.
#1 means "I love you", and can be used towards friends, family, and lovers, or when admitting your feelings for someone.
#2 means "I really really love you", and it's used specifically for childhood friends (rarely) and for your lover/boyfriend/girlfriend. Maybe parents, but be careful how you say it and the context.
Finally...
#3 means "You are my soulmate and I want to spend the rest of my life with you", and this is reserved for the one special someone whom you love unconditionally. Most people never use this word in their entire life, but it does exist and can be used... Though you might scare someone away if you use it too early in a relationship. Did I say might? You WILL scare them away~

First off, Anemone made me watch Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and I'll admit it was my first time watching it. I watch the 2012 version with her, as that's her favorite. It was so wonderful~ I just... Mikey and Donny are my favorites~ I love that Mikey has FRECKLES! How!? WHAT SORCERY IS THIS!?! Then I had a realization. They're 15 year old mutants. 15 year old mutant turtles. Who are learning Japanese and Ninja-ness from a giant mutant rat who was once a human. And they eat pizza.
And Michaelangelo's FRECKLES are what I"m questioning?

The next thing I want to talk about is my Pokemon challenge that I will be attempting starting tomorrow! So when I was younger, I actually had trouble getting my Pokemon high enough to beat the Elite 4. Now that I've learned the secrets of grinding, EV training, EXP share, and various other methods, it's not nearly as difficult for me! And with Anemone playing Pokemon Firered every day, I'm getting a bit jealous~ I miss my training days, and I really want to play some more! So in order to up the difficulty, I looked up some gameplay challenges online~ I decided on a fairly easy, yet really entertaining challenge and changed up the rules a bit.
Youngster Joey Challenge!
1. Your character's name MUST be Joey. No exceptions!
2. You have to wear shorts when playing, every time!
3. Every new town you hit, you must call someone randomly on your phone- in real life- and tell them about how you have a Rattata in the top percentage of Rattata!
4. You may only use a Rattata, and only one, in battles.
5. You are allowed, and will need, HM slaves to navigate the Overworld. HOWEVER, using them in battle is FORBIDDEN!
6. You can't evolve Rattata.
7. You may EV train Rattata and teach it TMs and HMs. Remember, your goal is a Rattata in the top percentage!
In the beginning of the game, you can use your starter until you are able to catch a Rattata. This means that as soon as you get Pokeballs, you MUST go to the first area of the game and catch one ASAP, otherwise the challenge doesn't count!

I'm going to start this tomorrow, feel free to try it with me if you'd like~
Also, fitness-wise, I'm pretty proud of myself~
I've actually gained weight, unfortunately... Yet, IT'S ALL ROCK HARD MUSCLE! FUCK YEAH! I'm really proud that I've stuck with this~ I have a lot more energy, I'm not as depressed or lonely anymore, and I can now lift about 25~30 lbs at the gym! That's some great improvement in just 4 weeks~
So happy!
I'm starting school back up in March/April, and am taking some pretty fun classes~ I might talk a lot about what I'm learning in that time, because I'm really passionate about school. I dunno why, but I LOVE learning about neurons, and how the human brain works~ It's all so interesting!

Anime Feels and Funny Pictures~

Last night's post had GREAT content, but it was a bit sad design-wsie...~ A reminder to me to always ALWAYS preview before publishing.

It's an academy for rich kids, so I assume it would pay well if you, y'know, did your job right. Also, I think it would be fun~ I've always wanted to teach, and I love pursuing knowledge!

The D-word, and how to manage~ (Oh stop thinking about it that way, you pervs!)

Yo! So yesterday, I promised some folklore today. I'm sort of a mythology buff and I love fun little trivia facts about beliefs, both old and new! But I realized today that I've been lying a bit.
I've been pretty depressed lately.
Not too much, but it got me to thinking that EVERYONE has days like that. Y'know, days where you don't wanna crawl out of bed. So today (after the challenge, HTD, and Japanese fact) I'll be talking a bit about how to tackle your depression!

This word means happy. But not just happy, it means exuberant. Ecstatic. Typically you say this when someone makes you happy by giving you a gift, visiting you, or taking you on a date to a place you enjoy~ You can even say it just to say that you're happy about seeing them!
You can say that someone looks happy by saying "ureshisou" (oo-re-shee-so; 嬉しそう;うれしそう)

Finally, the moment you've all been waiting for...~
So for a bit of background, depression runs in my family. That doesn't mean, however, that it controls my life. I do go through stages where I refuse to get out of bed and cry myself to sleep at night for stupid reasons. Hell, I've even considered suicide once or twice.
But it hasn't beat me and it never will.
I guess that leads into my first point,
Find a way to motivate yourself!
I recommend doing this before depression sets in. Basically, for me this means thinking about everything I wouldn't get done if I stayed in my room all day. All the opportunities I'd miss.
I mean, someone's day could be made just a bit better if you went outside and smiled at them!
Motivate yourself to keep going, even when you feel like falling! The problem with depression is that it's a cycle, a vicious one.
You stay indoors, so you feel down.
You feel down, so you stay indoors.
And it keeps going and going and going...

If you know it will happen, find motivation ahead of time! A reason to get out of bed! Even if you don't prepare a list of all you want to accomplish and what you want to do~ Basically, reasons to get out of bed.
Some great reasons that help me are...
1. But you have school today! Don't skip classes, or you'll NEVER earn your PhD!
2. What about hula hooping? Isn't that still a thing?
3. Oh come on, there must be SOME kind of anime you wanted to watch today...
4. Get up and love your snake! Her life depends on you!
5. What about that hot bod you want? It won't sculpt itself!
Get outside in the sunlight!
Vitamn D in sunlight really can help cheer you up. I find that if I lay down in the sun, I feel happier, warmer, and generally better than when I lay down in bed.
I mean, if you're gonna spend the day lying down ANYways...~
Don't dwell on what you can't change.
I don't know about you, but MY brain likes to tell me all about everything I've ever done wrong. But you know what, fuck that! I've done a lot RIGHT, too! Also, you can't change the past so why dwell on it?
My favorite metaphor for this...
Say you spilled some milk on the ground. Since it's already happened, you can't change it! So from here on, you have three options. You can...
a) Walk past the milk, and let it spoil on the floor, pretending it never happened and then NEVER get the spill cleaned...
b) Freak out and throw a fit over it, panicking over what to do and again, it will never get cleaned up...
c) Or you can realize that you made a mistake and clean up the milk.
C is the obvious answer, right?
Realize what you did, that what happened can't be changed. You still have to buy new milk! Then do what you can to fix it. Clean up the milk and buy some more.
Don't dwell on negative emotions. Recognize them, feel them for 10~15 minutes, then move along.
I realize that it's difficult, but here are some tactics to help!
1. Meditate
2. Pray
3. Focus your mind on something else, like blogging!
Exercise BEFORE it gets to be a problem!
I know, I know, cliche. But it really does work wonders! Even if it's just yoga in the mornings and evenings, or 5 crunches, or even just one pull-up! Stay active!
A fun fact about exercise is that it pumps endorphins and dopamine through your brain!
Endorphins are essentially the body's natural painkiller. They make you feel physically alright, and are also released whenever you're injured -though I don't recommend cutting yourself as an antidepressant- and are just a great thing in general! Dopamine makes you happy, it gives you that warm, fuzzy feeling and is also the cause of most addictions (this would be orgasms, exercise, music, etc... most drugs too, unfortunately).
Once you exercise a bit, you'll want to exercise more!

Now these two aren't really tips, but they're important as well.
PLEASE don't hurt yourself! There are much better ways to deal with loneliness, sadness, and depression. Talk to your doctor, your parents, your friends. Anyone. Find someone to trust. I don't trust many people, but when I need to talk to someone I do it. If I don't want to tell anyone, I write it down. Usually in the form of a fictional story, but sometimes a letter to myself.
Also, for some, antidepressants are the only option. Most of the time, depression can be help under control with exercise, a positive mindset, the right diet, and supportive people... But if you do have to take the dreaded antidepressants, then I recommend a Selective Seratonin Reuptake Inhibitor (SSRI). SSRIs are things like Prozac/Serafem. What they do is keep seratonin from being recycled, therefore more seratonin stays in the brain longer. Low seratonin levels are typically connected with OCD type disorders, shyness, social anxiety, and depression. SSRIs are generally great because even though they take 6-8 weeks to work, they have very little side effects compared to other types of antidepressants.
All in all, do what you can to keep a positive outlook!
Don't hold it inside. Recognize how you feel, deal with it in a proper way, and keep on keeping on!
And you know what else?
I think that you are BEAUTIFUL! If you ever, for one second, think that you're alone in this world, remember... You're not. You have people who love you.

You are all important to someone! I can't make this clear enough!

Anyways, today started off pretty badly. Well, it wasn't too bad I guess. My back still hasn't healed, but I got impatient and continued benchpressing... So it hurts even more now.

So today I sliced my finger open accidentally. I had to use Anemone's keys, since I don't have my own and they open the gym here in our apartment complex, and she had left her pocket knife open... It cut me. Not good, considering we have snakes, and reptiles can transmit diseases... I've been pretty careful, though~
It was feeding day for Alipheese, and she's fat and happy now~ So cute! I'll take a video of her feeding when I get a decent camera, look forward to it~
I guess that's about all in news, so yeah.

I've been a HUGE fan of this anime since I was 12. I have always admired Ed for his strength and courage! Also, I like how he's only SLIGHTLY angsty, despite the sadness and the difficult past. Even though he's angsty on the inside, he keeps i to himself, without complaining. He doesn't even look that sad~ Well, he does in these pictures, but... Meh.
Anways, that COAT though...! SO SEXY AND BEAUTIFUL! I want it~ I was actually planning an Ed cosplay a while ago, and I'd still really like to do it~ First I need muscles, though...

So apparently, my hentai last night won the challenge~ Anemone is scarred for life! Bwahaha! So his one's a HELL of a lot more normal! It's one that I personally enjoy, mostly for the story, though the ecchi scenes aren't too bad, either...~ A bit unrealistic, but hey, it's better than the ones I've been posting~

Something else I've been thinking a lot about lately is stereotypes. I hate them, but they exist. DON'T believe that they are true! I often joke around and make stereotypical jokes, for example, Ill sit playing Mass Effect and yell at Anemone to make me a sandwich... Then she mimes beating me with a baseball bat.
But that doesn't mean I believe all women "belong in the kitchen" or that all men will treat women like that! In fact, I think that people can be who they want, when they want! Screw anyone who tells you to be something for their sake, or who thinks you act a certain way because you're a man or a woman!
It disgusts me to see people who truly believe that stereotypes are true. I guess I'm upset over it because I saw the "Blurred Lines" video for the first time yesterday... Before seeing the video, I loved that song! Sure, the line about domestication made me a bit upset, but it's easy to ignore that for a song that's pretty catchy...
Well, I'm never listening to that garbage again.
He blows smoke in another human being's face, as if it's okay! And then the song is POPULAR! American culture believes it's okay to disrespect someone for being different!

So this video put me in a bad mood, and I would like to go over the details of why in an educated way... But right now I'm still a bit agitated over it. Hopefully tomorrow I'll post that~
